Working together to beat writer's block.

Graduate student writing retreat

The Department of Religious Studies is holding a writing retreat on Friday, December 8. All members of the department are encouraged to attend.

Nov 22, 2017

The Department will be hosting a one-day writing retreat on Friday, December 8 in Wilson Hall 1013. Graduate students working on thesis/dissertation/paper writing are strongly encouraged to attend.  We will gather together in a room with our computers and do 3 sessions of no-distractions writing. Each session will be made up of 4 x 25 minutes of writing with 5-minute breaks after each 25-minute block.

Three things to consider:

  1. You will get a shocking amount of writing done in this time.
  2. The department is picking up the tab for pizza, snacks, and drinks.
  3. See points 1 and 2.
  4. You are welcome to attend only one or two sessions if that’s all you can manage.

Of course, faculty are most welcome to attend.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

Session one: 10 a.m. - 12 noon
Break for lunch - pizza
Session two 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Break for coffee.
Session three 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

6 p.m. - Phoenix?

Please confirm with Dr. Mark Rowe (even if you have already) that you would like to participate. Please let him know any dietary requests at this time.
